FRANCIS GUY. in submitting the first issue of his County and City Directory, trusts any delay in its publication will receive the kind indulgence of the public. In its compilation, difficulties which belong to every first effort have operated with great force on this, especially as regards the county information. Rather, however, than compromise the interests of the work, and to render the directory of each postal district as accurate as possible, proof-sheets were forwarded to resident clerical and other gentlemen, petty sessions clerks, postmasters, constables, etc. ; these were, with very few exceptions, promptly examined and returned.
