The first List A attempts to record the Naval and Military services of Trinity men in the Great War. The intention is to give the month and year of the first appointment, and to record promotions, distinctions, casualties, and the fronts on which men served. In order to recognize the work done by the Dublin University Officers' Training Corps, those who were members of the Corps are distinguished by an asterisk placed in front of their names. In giving military appointments, honors, and names of regiments, the contractions used in the Army List have been adopted.
